How is the dinnerware industry in the USA doing?
April 27, 2007
If everything that is produced in China now? If a patented product, which can not be produced without a license for help? Have you heard of the "micro-plate heat retentive" which can be preheated, for a minute, for a vacation HOT 1 / 2 hour and Rim COOL remains for ease of manipulation ?

Wal-mart or k-mart had those plates as i recall and they were neat but I did not buy them . They were made in Malayasia as I recall . They had a store demo in the aisles . Most dinnerware since the 60s has been made overseas and there is afew left in this country like fiestaware in ohio and homer- laughlin. Most go overseas cause of the labor .
I doubt there is any US production with environmental and labor costs. I suggest doing a little research the inexpensive way: go to Walmart, Beth & Bath, Mikasa and take a look at what they carry, specially were its manufactured. Usual mark-up is at least 40%, so you can figure how much they paid their supplier. Some questions to ponder: Can you produce at half that price? Can you handle the volume? Do you have the distribution channels?
