Lights, camera, action!
August 29, 2010
Just watched one of those make over design shows and I really want to get some Kichler lighting for my apartment. The team made a really great job of this house they decorated. A lot of the times I don’t like how the end result turns out but today I thought they did a super job. Maybe I should just get an interior designer to come in and revamp my place. Lights alone won’t do what I need to do!
Come fly with me, lets fly, lets fly away!

Listening to the news earlier today and I was delighted to hear that several new airport jobs have been created in our local airport. Finally some good news for the town! Recently a factory closed down and so a lot of people were made redundant. It’s good to see that some new positions have been created close by. Most people were resigned to the fact that they’d have to commute way out of town in order to find work. Best of luck to everyone.
Romancing the stone

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend but they didn’t state that they need to be certified diamonds! I’m just after watching the film Blood Diamond and I was horrified by what I saw. I don’t own any diamonds myself but I have bought them before and it got me thinking about where they came from. I couldn’t rest until I found out and thankfully all my diamonds were certified and fully traceable. Shame the same can’t be said for the money they cost me!!
The writing’s on the ball!
August 22, 2010
I was in the store yesterday when I saw what I think could be the coolest present for my nephew for Christmas. Hard to believe we’re thinking that way again already – where has the year gone?! Anyway, I saw this promotion today for personalized soccer balls and figured it was the perfect present. After work tomorrow I’m going to head back to the store and place an order. I’ll be the best uncle ever!
Little things for really little people
August 18, 2010
I’ve seen it all… My niece has a little playhouse for all her dolls and loves playing house. For her birthday at the weekend she got a preschool for her dolls complete with miniature preschool furniture!!! It was the cutest thing ever – tiny little chairs and tables for the classrooms, miniature chalk boards and easels with paper for painting on. The detail was incredible – as I’m sure was the price tag that accompanied them!!!
Reliving my youth with some outdoor pursuits
August 10, 2010
We’re heading on our annual vacation next month and for a change we’re going camping! I’ve not slept under the stars since I was a young boy. There’s a few of us going so space is running out fast for all our essentials. I decided to invest in a roof box and a friend suggested I look at some thule racks as they have a great selection depending on one’s specific needs. He was right and I’ve now got even more space to fill.
When willpower isn’t the only thing that folds
July 27, 2010
My sister in law is a bit on the heavy side and is always on a diet or some kind of exercise buzz. She doesn’t ever follow anything as she should and the exercise routine gets slacker each day and the diet reverts to old habits of snacking and such like. So when I saw her looking at folding treadmills considering a purchase, all I could do was laugh inside. If she can fold that thing when she gets it, she’ll never open it again!
When ego is drained away with the blockage
July 27, 2010
We had a blockage at the apartment yesterday and try as I might, I couldn’t get rid of it. I had to abandon it and go to work hoping that gravity and sheer luck might have cleared the blockage by the time I’d gotten home. No such luck! I had to call the buildings maintenance manager and within minutes of getting there he’d cleared it. His secret? spring plungers! I’m going to invest in one and avoid having to annoy him again.
Falling slipped one disk, getting up slipped another
July 27, 2010
I recently slipped a disc after falling down a few steps. It didn’t seem like anything major at the time but I had to have an x-ray and then discovered why my pain wasn’t easing. So I booked an appointment with my local chiropractor and was just getting up onto the exam table when what did I do? I only managed to slip another disc! The pain was excruciating. The chiropractor knew immediately what I’d done and thankfully he’s managed to help me. If I’ve learned one thing, it’s to mind my back even more.
All in a day’s shopping
July 27, 2010
I’m not sure if it’s because of this global recession or not but it seems that most stores in the local mall are all having some kind of sale or other. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. It’s great for the shoppers getting a bargain but the way I figure it, the shop keepers are still turning a profit, only a lesser one than pre-sale. Just makes you wonder what kind of mark up they had in the first place. I won’t worry about it though, I bagged me some great bargains.
